nicole + matt | wedding day

Meet these two little lovebirds:  Nikki and Matt.

I first met Nikki and Matt during a site visit at the Loading Dock, where I’m the event coordinator.  After giving them a tour of the space, Kay, (Nikki’s mom who lives in Sarasota, Florida) asked if I knew of any wedding planners in the area…it was simply fate.  I loved EVERYTHING about this wedding:  Nikki & Matt, Ken & Kay, the handsome little ring bearer Caleb, the flowers, the barn door dessert table, the custom green toile napkins, the yummy frozen signature drink, the candy apples, the cheddar mashed potatoes, the late night mac & cheese bar, the pecan pie (can you tell I like food?), the list goes on.  Nikki and Matt, thank you for trusting us with one the most memorable days of your lives.  It was so much fun getting to know you (and your families) and we wish you all a lifetime of happiness.   Hugs.

Thank you to the AHH-MAZING team of vendors that helped make their dream a reality.

katie + paul | the party

Hi loves!

Katie and Paul had a BEAUTIFUL beach wedding this summer in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico and then continued the celebration with a reception at the Jacoby Arts Center in Alton, IL with all of their family and friends. Katie and Paul are an awesome couple, they have personalities that you just cant get enough of (in fact, in high school Katie was voted Best Personality!) and they both are SO much fun!   Katie was a STUNNING bride ( I mean how hot is she?!) Their reception at Jacoby was so beautiful (one of our favorite spaces!) and we just adored all of the details from the “best wishes” cards to the tissue paper tassel.  Reception photos courtesy of the oh-so-talented Dreaming Tree Photography!

Katie and Paul-  Thank you so much for allowing us to be part of your BIG day!  We wish you all of the happiness that life has to offer!  Love you both!

changing the odds gala | theresa harpole foundation

Hello my darlings -

I ‘d like to tell you a little diddy about two amazing people in my life: my aunt, Theresa, and my cousin, Josh.

Seven years ago Theresa was diagnosed with Stage 0 breast cancer.  Like all cancer diagnoses, it was scary…for Theresa, and our entire family – or clan as I like to say as we have a ginormous family – but we were all relieved that it was caught so early.  She underwent a double mastectomy, tested positive for the BRCA 2 gene mutation (aka: the dreaded breast cancer gene), and had a hysterectomy as advised by her doctors.  And life went on.  She was in the clear…so we thought.

Almost four years ago she was diagnosed with Stage IV Metastatic Breast Cancer and her life suddenly became a whirlwind of chemotherapy, anti-nausea medications, and clinical trials.  Most people, myself included, would curl up into a ball of anger and isolation asking “why me?”  Not Theresa.  She is, and always has been, a fighter.  And fight she did.  She has lived every day to the fullest.  Carpe diem would be an understatement.

Enter Josh and his awesomeness.  As soon as Theresa was diagnosed with Stage IV, he wanted to start a non-profit organization in his mom’s honor to help fund Metastatic Breast Cancer research.  His dream became a reality in April of this year when he formed the Theresa Harpole Foundation for Metastatic Breast Cancer.  I am so proud of him I can hardly stand it!

Last June we had the pleasure and honor of helping to plan and design the THFMBC’s first Changing the Odds Gala at the Jacoby Arts Center.  The Foundation raised over $20,000 that night.  Not bad for the first ever event, eh?  Since the event in June, the Foundation has hosted a golf tournament at Tapawingo National Golf Club and a movie premiere of the Hollywood film, Decoding Annie Parker, at the Tivoli Theater.  Save the date for next years gala on November 1, 2014.  It’s gonna be a masquerade ball, y’all!

Theresa and Josh, I am in awe of your dedication to make a difference in others’ lives.  Your selfless acts are so inspiring.  You are my heroes.  Love you long time.

Here’s to treating every day as a gift.  Cheers!

A big thanks to our wedding vendor buddies, Dreaming Tree Photography and The Photo Beast, for helping to make this event so much fun!

Ashley - I love you all so so so much. Well said, Affy! And thanks for everything, Amanda – God has a special place in heaven for people like you.

vintage pastel | styled shoot

Last May, we had the privilege of styling an editorial shoot,”Vintage Pastel”, at Kuhs Farm.  We love anything vintage, so when our friend and St. Louis photographer Kristina Cipolla asked us to be apart of the shoot, we couldn’t resist.   I can’t even begin to list all of my favorite details from this shoot, but I’m going to try–the mint wedding dress, the bowties, the dessert table, and probably my favorite detail–that big yellow peony in the bride’s bouquet by Peacock Blooms.  The lovely ladies over at Landlocked Bride loved this shoot just as much as we did and featured it on their blog!  These beautiful images are courtesy of Kristina Cipolla Photography.
